Anything Worth Saying?

Do not be quick with your mouth,
do not be hasty in your heart
   to utter anything before God.
God is in heaven
   and you are on earth,
so let your words be few.
-Ecclesiastes 5:2

One of my favorite authors, Elisabeth Elliot, said, "The things that we feel most deeply we ought to learn to be silent about, at least until we have talked them over thoroughly with God."
There are a lot of words in the world, and many of them are not worth saying.  There are a lot of thoughts in my mind, and many of them are best kept silent.  But our God is not silent; he speaks to us in his holy word, and he often speaks to us through others as well.  So if I do have anything to say, let it be that which will bring honor to him.  Or, in someone else's words...

"Give me words to speak...'cause I can't think of anything worth saying...But I know that I owe You my life."
-Aaron Shust
